High Caffeine Coffee Brew Guide

high caffeine coffee brews

Caffeine refers to the molecule that naturally occurs in certain plants worldwide. It is also found in certain beverages such as coffee soft drinks and tea. The amount of caffeine content in coffee varies from one brew to the other depending on a number of factors. When we are referring to strength in coffee brews, this is simply considering the extent of extraction and concentration of the flavor.

The amount of caffeine content extracted is, therefore, one factor that determines how strong the coffee brew is such that the higher the caffeine content the stronger that brew is and vice versa. However, the strength of coffee is in a way a matter of personal opinion as flavor also contributes when considering the strength of the coffee.

On the other hand, when we are referring to highly caffeinated coffee, we simply mean coffee that has a high level of caffeine content. In this article, we will have a look at various aspects of brewing coffee which is highly caffeinated.

Factors to consider when brewing highly caffeinated coffee

When you want to prepare coffee drinks that are high caffeine coffee, there are some factors that you should really consider when selecting your ingredients. Some of these factors include the coffee beans selected and the brewing method that you use to prepare your coffee.

Alternatively, if you are going to use pre-ground coffee brands, you should select the coffee brands with high caffeine like the Biohazard Coffee brand which is considered the strongest coffee in the world.  Each of these factors is really important and should be given some consideration. Let’s have a look at some of these factors:

The Coffee Beans Used

As we have said the types of coffee beans that you will use to extract the coffee grounds that you will use to brew high caffeinated coffee is an important aspect. First of all, the two common types of beans used for the production of coffee are the Robusta and Arabica coffee beans. Arabica is usually preferred in most cases due to its flavor and you will realize that some of the most expensive coffee brands are made up of pure Arabica coffee beans.

Robusta, on the other hand, is easily grown and tends to have a higher content of caffeine. However, Robusta beans are rarely used alone. They are mostly blended with the Arabica beans. Additionally, caffeine content in the coffee beans is also dependent on the plant breeding, region and weather, which is why you should carefully consider the type of beans that you will use.

Brewing Methods

This refers to the procedures of preparing the coffee beverage using the roasted coffee beans. These methods involve 4 basic procedures namely; grinding the roasted beans, mixing them with water (hot) for a specific duration and finally separating the used coffee grounds from the brewed liquid coffee.

Various brew methods use different grind sizes for various reasons. One thing that is certain and common with all these brewing methods is that the caffeine content is increased by maximizing the extraction. Extraction simply refers to the process in which the soluble flavors contained in coffee grounds are dissolved into the water during the brewing process.

Extraction can be increased by various factors such as the increasing temperature of the water, coffee amount and extraction time. However, all these factors will depend on the type of the method that is being used as exceeding some of these factors may result in ruining or diminishing the quality of the coffee.  The only factor that will certainly increase the caffeine content without any limitations is increasing the amount of coffee.

Techniques of coffee brewing

There are various types of methods that are employed in the process of brewing coffee. They include vacuum brewing, French press, filter/ drip coffee, percolating, Turkish and concentrate brewing.  All these brewing methods yield different levels of caffeine content in the coffee brews.

The method that is mostly used by most people in brewing coffee is the filter/ drip brewing method, particularly in the US. In this article, we will describe how we can prepare highly caffeinated coffee using the Turkish method.

Preparing highly caffeinated coffee using the Turkish brewing method

Highly caffeinated Turkish coffee should be brewed preferably at temperatures below 158°F so that the froth which forms slightly below this temperature can be maintained. Froth is tasty and provides the coffee with a unique texture and taste. You can follow instructions on the following recipe so as to prepare Turkish coffee high in caffeine.

In order to prepare a strong Turkish cup of coffee, you will need the following Ingredients: two teaspoons of fine coffee grounds, one to four teaspoons of sugar and approximately 50 ml of water.

If you have all the ingredients in the right amount, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Pour water; measured based on the serving cups you require; into the 8 ounces Turkish coffee pot.
  2. Put the coffee pot on a stove then maximize the knob so as to heat up the water. This is very essential if you want highly caffeinated coffee.
  3. Place all the remaining ingredients inside the Turkish brewing pot that is coffee grounds and sugar.
  4. Stir these ingredients for a minute then leave it so that the coffee can brew. At this very point, the heat flame should be low to ensure that the flavor of the coffee is maintained.
  5. Wait for the coffee to brew till it forms a foam on top without stirring it.
  6. Remove the foam from the pot and continue heating and brewing the coffee. This process may be repeated for about 3 to 4 times.
  7. Remove the coffee from the pot and serve it instantly while it is still fresh and hot.

Turkish method is just one of the many ways that you can use to brew coffee that is highly caffeinated. However, if you opt to brew this type with the pre-ground coffee brands with high caffeine content, you should not exceed the average amount of coffee intake that should be consumed in a day as it can have some serious side effects.
