Here are six simple steps you can take to brew a stronger, better tasting cup of coffee.
1. USE SUPERB QUALITY, STRONG COFFEE BEANS
Using good quality, strong coffee beans is arguably the most important part of making nice strong coffee.
Coffee beans commercially available at grocery stores or large retail chains have often spent months being processed.
It’s ideal to shop at your local coffee shop or a dedicated coffee supplier. This way you know you’re getting the freshest coffee beans possible.
2. INCREASE COFFEE : WATER RATIOS WHEN BREWING
The strength of coffee refers to coffee that is rich and dense as opposed to thin and watery.
By increasing the number of coffee beans used without increasing the water quantity will immediately result in a nice, strong cup of coffee - good enough to satisfy any strong coffee lover’s cravings.
3. DON’T SKIMP ON A GOOD COFFEE FILTER
Filters are just as important in delivering a mean cup of coffee. Try to steer clear of bargain price, cheap paper filters for your coffee. Try to invest in oxygen-bleached filters that are reputed to really enhance the flavor of the strong coffee.
4. BREW COFFEE FOR THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF TIME
It is imperative that coffee is brewed for the correct length of time for optimum strength and goodness.
For a drip-system, it’s essential to allow at least 5 minutes of brew time. For a french press, it takes approximately 2-4 minutes.
Letting the coffee fuse with the water for the appropriate amount of time will result in a more decadent, strong tasting cup of coffee.
5. BUY RAW COFFEE BEANS AND ROAST AND GRIND THEM YOURSELF
If all else fails, it might be a good idea to buy raw strong coffee beans from a reputable seller and grind and roast them at home yourself.
This method will do two things:
1) get you stronger coffee by roasting your beans for a longer period of time
2) ensure the freshness of the grind and add more flavor and strength to your cup of coffee.
6. DOUBLE-BREW YOUR COFFEE
Double brewing is another efficient method to produce strong coffee. As soon as you’ve brewed your coffee, pour out the cup and run it over the ground coffee beans one more time to extract that last bit of extra flavor.
